The best time to prepare your clinic for sale is before you need to.
Mint Ops helps dentists across Canada prepare and sell a dental practice for a flat consulting fee that does not change with the sale price, starting with a free Clarity Call.
Most sellers begin thinking about a transition when something prompts it: a health event, a partnership change, a number that finally feels right. By then, the preparation that would have added the most value is no longer possible. The clinics that sell well, on their own terms, at a number that reflects what they built, are almost always the ones where the work started earlier than it needed to.
We work with sellers at every stage, including the ones who aren’t ready yet.
A buyer pays for what your clinic will produce after you’re gone.
The number a buyer is willing to pay is a calculation: what the clinic will generate under new ownership, and how confident the buyer and their lender are in that projection. How hard you worked, how loyal your patients are, and how much the practice means to you and your team are not part of it.
The systems drive that confidence more than the equipment, the location, or even the patient count. A practice where production depends heavily on the outgoing dentist's relationships, clinical reputation, or personal involvement in day-to-day operations carries a risk that buyers price in. A practice with documented processes, a stable team, predictable hygiene production, and a patient base that is attached to the clinic rather than the clinician carries less of it, and is priced accordingly.
Not all buyers are the same, and understanding the difference is part of what we do before you're in front of any of them. A private buyer is buying a place to practise. A corporate buyer or DSO is buying a revenue-generating asset. Corporate offers can appear more attractive on the surface, but they come with terms worth understanding: longer post-sale commitment periods, production-based earnouts, compensation structures including DSO equity, and conditions that are not always easy to parse without someone in your corner who has read them before.
Some of the money in an offer is certain, and some depends on terms that are easy to miss. Part of our job is making sure you know the difference before you decide.
What your practice is worth today and what it could be worth are two different numbers.
An appraisal gives you more than a number. It shows exactly where value is being left on the table: the hygiene recall that has slipped, the outstanding treatment that was never followed up, the systems that are owner-dependent in ways a buyer will discount.
For sellers with 9 to 18 months before they want to go to market, those findings become a roadmap. We work through it alongside you, drawing on the full Mint Ops ecosystem: Remote Administration for recall and treatment follow-through, Marketing for visibility, Recruitment for team stability. Dev stays across all of it, because the goal of every intervention is the same: a stronger appraisal, a cleaner sale, and a number that reflects what the practice is capable of producing.
Not every seller needs this pathway. Some practices are ready. For those that aren’t, the months spent here usually cost less than the discount a buyer would have applied.
What working with us looks like.
Every engagement is different. The steps below are consistent.
The relationship doesn’t close when the deal does.
What it costs to work with us.
Our fee is a flat consulting fee, scoped at the start of the engagement based on three things: the independently appraised value of your practice, the complexity of the work involved, and the timeline from appraisal to close. It is set before any buyer is in the room and does not change based on the final sale price or who is on the other side of the table.
The Clarity Call is free. The appraisal is the starting point. Everything else is scoped and agreed before it begins.
The best time to start this conversation is earlier than you think.
Whether you’re 18 months from a decision or 5 years out, the conversation costs nothing and changes how you see the time between now and then. We’ll tell you where your practice stands, what’s worth addressing before you go to market, and what working together would involve.
